Tech Lead (Domain Architect) (f/m/d)
Workload: 80–100%
IT Service Engineering is a radical shift in how Axpo builds and operates IT services. We engineer IT services like products, with data architecture, data quality, automation, and integration built in by design, not added later.
The Tech Lead owns the technical direction of the service platform, including JSM, CMDB integration patterns, workflow automation, GitHub‑based delivery, and the engineering standards for how Axpo's IT service backbone evolves. The role connects processes, data, platforms, and integrations into a coherent end‑to‑end architecture and ensures that Axpo reaches its north star of 100% data architecture and 100% data quality for IT services.
This is a senior platform engineer who still codes and reviews code; someone who turns architecture into working systems, not slideware, and who sets the team mindset: building working solutions, raising the engineering bar, and attracting strong engineers through craft, speed, and good judgment.
What you will do:
Own the technical direction and end-to-end architecture for IT Service Engineering, connecting processes, data, platforms, and integrations.
Define and evolve CMDB architecture, including service models, asset relationships, hierarchies, and data quality principles.
Translate business, operational, and regulatory requirements into architectural guardrails, guiding engineers from concept to working solutions.
Design architectural patterns for automation, routing, integration, and AI-enabled service capabilities.
Actively write, review, and improve code across APIs, automation scripts, integration logic, and workflows.
Collaborate with DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers, Product Owners, and Business IT to implement architectural intent.
Represent IT Service Engineering in the Architectural Design Authority Board.
What you bring & who you are:
University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Advanced certifications in architecture or platform engineering are a plus.
Broad experience in service architecture, data architecture, and ITSM platforms, with hands-on expertise in coding, automation, and integration design.
Proven ability to design service-centric data models and integrate complex IT landscapes, including IAM, monitoring, and finance systems.
Strong understanding of automation-first and AI-enabled architectures, with a pragmatic approach to applying AI.
Builder mentality: comfortable turning messy requirements into working solutions using scripts, automations, or internal apps.
Fluent in English; German and/or Spanish is a plus.
Even if you don’t meet all the requirements, we look forward to your application!
