Intern Battery Optimisation (f/m/d)
Workload: 80-100% | Start: from 1 November or by arrangement for 6 months
You will work as an intern alongside experienced quantitative analysts & software developers, contributing to improving operational trading strategies for our existing and upcoming battery assets. You will gain valuable experience in the optimisation algorithms used for battery assets, in software development, and learn about trading strategies.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Create a backtesting framework for assessing revenues for a given bidding strategy.
- Develop and evaluate new bidding strategies for the intraday continuous and aFRR energy markets. This may include building a hyper parameter optimisation to find the optimal parametrisation given historic data.
- Optional: integrating bidding strategies and recurring parameter optimisation into our cloud infrastructure and operational tools.
What you bring and who you are:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, natural science, math, engineering, energy science, or quantitative finance.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with git or a similar VCS.
- Either: experience with mathematical optimisation / operations research.
- Or: knowledge of financial markets or energy markets.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
About the team:
The Batteries & Hybrids division develops battery energy storage systems (BESS) all over Europe and operates battery assets in collaboration with other Axpo teams. The optimisation team provides market scheduling algorithms for business case valuations and battery operations.
