Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect (f/m/d)
Join Axpo Services EMEA S.L. as a Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data-driven solutions in the Generation & Distribution (G&D) Business Area. This is your chance to lead high-impact initiatives and modernize how data is built, governed, and consumed across Axpo.
What you will do:
Data Architecture & Design:
Design end-to-end data product architectures on Databricks, including ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption layers (bronze/silver/gold).
Define data modeling standards across multiple data domains.
Ensure alignment with Group Data Platform standards, security, and governance requirements.
Data Engineering:
Design, build, and review scalable data pipelines using Python (PySpark) and SQL on Databricks.
Implement robust data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring.
Optimize performance, cost, and reliability of Databricks workloads.
Enablement & Technical Leadership:
Act as a technical lead within the G&D Data Team and coach data engineers.
Support Business Areas in establishing data engineering capabilities and adopting data product practices.
Define and promote reusable templates, patterns, and engineering standards.
What you bring & who you are:
Required qualifications:
Several years of hands-on experience in data engineering, ideally in enterprise or complex environments.
Significant experience with Databricks or comparable platforms.
Proficiency in Python for data engineering, including PySpark-based data pipelines.
Strong knowledge of SQL and data modeling concepts.
Experience designing scalable data pipelines and reusable data products.
Familiarity with Git-based version control (e.g., GitHub or similar).
Ability to work across multiple data domains and collaborate with business stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience designing enterprise-grade data architectures and domain-oriented data products.
Knowledge of integrating APIs (e.g., REST) for data ingestion or product interfaces.
Familiarity with Delta Lake, Spark optimization, and CI/CD for data pipelines.
Experience with finance, controlling, or operational data domains.
Background in the energy sector.
Personal competencies:
Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to coordinate across teams and work independently.
Languages:
English (required).
German (a plus).
