What you will do
Research geopolitical, technical, and market developments that impact global oil, gas and LPG markets and support the trading desk in building various short- and long-term trading strategies
Maintain, supply and demand balances, freight matrices and global energy commodity arbitrage models
Develop and optimize analytical tools and dashboards to support trading decisions
Enter financial and physical structures into ETRM systems and validate trade economics: price, differentials, incoterms and other components of the physical commodity transactions
Reconcile trader blotter vs. system positions daily and learn PnL, risk exposure and physical transportation/shipping aspects around commodity trading cycle
Deepen your knowledge through internal training and education opportunities
What you bring & who you are
Education & Experience
Master's degree in Business Administration, mathematics, energy science, engineering, chemistry or shipping
First work experience through internships, working student positions, or similar roles in trading, finance or shipping
Strong interest in trading, commodities, shipping and transportation of energy commodities
Proficiency in English
Technical Skills
Attention to detail and execution discipline, with a hands-on approach to operational and administrative responsibilities
Coding skills in Python; SQL experience is a plus
Proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI preferred)
Soft Skills
Very good communication skills and near native-level English proficiency (written and verbal), with the ability to operate confidently in high-stakes commercial discussions
Resilient, performance-driven mindset with the capacity to thrive under pressure in fast-paced trading environments
Intellectual curiosity, commercial mindedness and entrepreneurialism are essential

About the programme
The Axpo Energy Academy is a structured, competitive program designed to develop high-potential trading talents uniquely aligned with Axpo's culture and needs. Over 18 months, you will gain comprehensive exposure to Axpo's trading environments through a progressive, mentorship-driven approach.
Phase 1: 6-Month Internship
You will receive foundational market knowledge and technical training through shadowing senior traders, taking on real project assignments, and receiving dedicated mentorship. Regular 1:1 guidance and a structured evaluation determine progression to the next phase.
Phase 2: 1-Year Temporary Contract
Continue your development through country-specific rotations across desks and support functions. Deepen your specialization through project-based learning, ongoing mentorship, and quarterly feedback. Successful completion leads to the final phase.
Phase 3: Permanent Position
Upon meeting all program requirements, transition to a permanent trading position within Axpo. You will receive an increased training budget for advanced certifications, full integration into trading teams, advanced onboarding, and mandate-readiness support.
About the team
The LPG desk is engaged in global sourcing, waterborne trading, and supply of LPG. The team manages proprietary physical and derivatives positions, executes hedging strategies, and optimises freight and shipping logistics across key international markets.
