Join our legal team at Axpo as a Senior Legal Counsel and be a pivotal part of a leading energy company.
In this role, you will navigate complex legal landscapes and influence key decisions in Axpo’s international power generation business area. You will be responsible for all legal aspects of Axpo’s storage and renewable power generation projects (mainly battery and biomethane, but also other types of renewable power generation) in Europe throughout the entire lifecycle (acquisition, development, construction, operation, and divestment). You will be part of Axpo’s international legal team and work at the Madrid office directly with various project teams in different countries.

What you will do:
· Provide comprehensive legal support to the power generation and storage business units with a focus on project acquisition and development for battery applications and biomethane power generation in Axpo’s core European markets.
· Advise on the planning and approval procedures and regulatory topics; draft and negotiate contracts, corporate documents, and other legally relevant documentation; support the execution of contracts.
· Conduct proceedings and disputes before authorities and courts; instruct and supervise external lawyers.
· Provide legal advice to Axpo’s decision-making bodies.
What you bring and who you are:
· Master’s degree in law from an EU University with admission to the bar.
· Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the industry in a law firm or as in-house counsel; experience in the areas of (general) administrative law, energy law, planning and construction law, environmental law, and contractual and commercial law.
· Effective communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
· High level of assertiveness, strong team player mentality, solution-orientated approach, and negotiating skills.
· Business fluency in English; knowledge of French, German, and Spanish is desirable.
