We support the optimal usage of green energy produced by our hydro plants with our IT systems. Power production combined with energy trading is in the middle of a fascinating transformation process, driven by international trends and current energy challenges with more intermittent renewable energy demanding for more flexibility in production. We require new IT solutions to cope with the increased complexity, speed and volume of information and data.
This role is perfect for an application engineer, developer, or technical business analyst with a broad technical skillset and a strategic mindset, who is also eager to take on responsibilities typically associated with a product owner role. This combination will enable them to make a direct and meaningful impact on the business.
What will you do:
- Manage the software applications which we use to optimize our hydro power plants in combination with energy trading
- Cover a wide range of activities from day-to-day operations to shaping the application architecture, defining long-term strategy or leading team-overarching initiatives (e.g. Cloud adoption, Security improvements, DevOps enablement)
- Bring your experience with advanced monitoring/logging and alerting as well as system and cloud engineering expertise into the team
- Lead the transformation into Microservices Architecture, Containerization (using technologies like Docker and Kubernetes), embracing DevOps practices, transitioning to cloud compatible solutions
- Work closely with business stakeholders to get the end-to-end process understanding and propose robust, scalable technical solutions, collaborating with architecture, infrastructure, development teams and external partners Be part of the 24/7 support team
- Manage software vendors (offers, contracts, quality controls)

What you bring & who you are:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, engineering, economics or equivalent
- 2-4 years of experience as an application engineer, technical business analyst, cloud engineer, solution engineer, developer or similar hybrid role
- Solid foundation in software development, system engineering and IT architecture Working experience in the energy sector and/or in trading
- Excellent analytical skills and collaborative, strong team player
- Fluent in English and German is mandatory
- One or more of the following are a big plus
- Working experience in the energy sector and/or in trading
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Azure Services and Microsoft Intune
- Experience with Azure Cloud infrastructure, ideally with Terraform for deploying infrastructure as code
- Experience with software development, testing and scripting, preferably in Python or Java
About the team:
You will be part of a very dedicated team which takes responsibility for critical IT applications short-term (operations) and long-term (projects). We collaborate very closely with business stakeholders, IT architects, developers, on-premises and Azure infrastructure system engineers and application vendors to get the most business value out of our IT applications.
