Axpo, Switzerland's leading renewable energy producer supports the optimal usage of green energy produced by our hydro plants with our IT systems. Power production combined with energy trading is in the middle of a fascinating transformation process, driven by international trends and current energy challenges. We require new IT solutions to cope with the increased complexity, speed and volume of information and data.
This role is ideal for an application engineer or a technical business analyst who brings broad technical experience to improve software products.
What you will do:
- Manage software applications which we use to optimize our hydro power plants in combination with energy trading and ancillary services
- Cover a wide range of activities from specifying application strategies to contributing to team-wide projects (e.g. migration to Azure cloud)
- Contribute to our support and maintenance organization for critical, internally developed high quality software written in C#
- Keep close contact with business stakeholders, get the end-to-end understanding of the processes and propose technical solutions, collaborating with architecture, development and vendor consultants.
- Manage software vendors (offers, contracts, quality controls) and closely work with them in projects.
- Depending on your skills, interests and experience, you will shape the role to a certain extent, weight of engineering, software development/testing and product design.
- Be part of the 24/7 support team
- Show your sense of responsibility, tech savviness and your team player attitude
- Fluent in English and German is mandatory
What you bring & who you are:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, engineering, economics or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience as application engineer, developer, technical Business analyst, cloud engineer or similar role
- Proven expertise in application engineering and management, covering strategy, application life cycle, security and vendor management
- Excellent analytical skills and strong team player
- Solid understanding of software development best practices and methodologies.
- One or more of the following are a big plus
- Working experience in the energy sector and/or in trading.
- Working experience in agile methodologies, preferably as Product Owner
- Experience with software development and testing, preferably in C# or Python
- Experience with Azure Cloud infrastructure engineering

You will be part of a very dedicated team which takes responsibility for critical IT applications, short-term (operations) and long-term (projects). We collaborate closely with business stakeholders, IT architects, on-premises and Azure infrastructure system engineers and application vendors in order to get the most business value out of our IT applications.
