Software Engineer – Application Integration (f/m/d)

Axpo is building a best-in-class IT that will bring us to the next level in digitalization, data intelligence, digital workplace and collaboration. We use MuleSoft as a strategic integration platform and we are working on many interesting integration projects for new applications based on REST APIs. In the role as Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for successfully implementing our API-first strategy in delivering cutting-edge integration solutions.
What you will do:
- Join a team of experienced software engineers specializing in backend development and integrating applications using REST APIs.
- Analyze business requirements, collaborate with engineers and architects to deliver REST API based integration solutions, setting benchmarks for reusability and extensibility.
- Design and implement integrations and APIs using your extensive backend development experience and a learning-by-doing approach to acquire proficiency in MuleSoft.
- You adhere to our integration strategy, design principles, development guidelines and review processes and take part in their evolution to ensure first-class quality.
- Proactively monitor the integration platform, troubleshoot, resolve, and report issues to impacted teams and stakeholders.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and other team activities to ensure code quality and maintainability.
What you bring & who you are:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.
- Proven experience in software development with a solid background of 5+ years in back-end programming languages (Java), understanding of computing science fundamentals: concurrency, algorithms, data modelling, design patterns, etc.
- Successful development of microservices, consumable via RESTful HTTP + JSON, experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and CI/CD (Azure DevOps) including package managers like Maven or Gradle.
- Experience with OAuth2, JWT, X.509 certificates, mutual TLS and understanding of networking concepts like firewalls, CIDRs, proxies, IP whitelisting, etc.
- Experience working in agile software delivery teams with a track record of delivering high-quality software quickly and efficiently, utilizing high-frequency delivery and automated quality assurance.
- Experience in any middleware (Apigee, webMethods, SAP CPI, MuleSoft, TIBCO, Boomi) is a plus.
- Proactive enthusiasm for becoming a MuleSoft expert.
- Fluent in English; German is a plus.
